Hey guys, my name is Michael (ign: Blurpe ForewarnGÇÖd). I know a lot of people have been introduced to the game Eve Online recently, due to the awesome 'This is Eve' Trailer that CCP posted to their Youtube channel. As a player who is trying to better the success of new players to the game, here are few things to note before going in that may save you a lot of time.
Before you start, beware that this game is brutal, and complex. As a sandbox, the game, the landscape, and the market is almost entirely run by the players. Not many people, or corporations (player-run groups), or alliances (groups of corporations), are going to coddle or baby you. Every player is out for their own gain in one way or another. Myself included.
1) Choose what you want to do in the game. You are not limited to one track, but it is far easier if you pick 1 or 2 to start out with just to get your bearings.
-Trade, Industry, PvP, PvE, Exploration, Miner.
To explore the different options within the game, you can use the link below:
http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/ 2) Skills. Skills are the lifeblood of the game, it pays to pre-plan an organized skill tree so that you donGÇÖt waste time training things you donGÇÖt need to train. This game is different from many others in that you donGÇÖt have to be online to train. Your skills train when you arenGÇÖt logged in.
-You need to have skill books to inject a skill before you can start training it.
-The tutorial missions and starter missions, which you can get from agents, are a good way to acquire the early-on (cheaper) skill books.
3) Interstellar Kredits (ISK) is the in-game currency. As with other MMOs, ISK is used to buy items within the game (in this instance, being ships, weapons, launchers, guns, cannons, ores, minerals, aesthetic items, etc). There are many ways to make money within the game, each having their own personal perks and flaws. Some of the basic ways to make this money are:
-Mining
-Trading
-PvE
-Exploration
-PvP
-Planetary Interaction
-Mission-Running
If you still wish to play this game, then I would suggest you start with the trial and try out a bunch of different things in your tutorial and career missions to figure out what you want to do in the game, if you donGÇÖt know already. The trial lasts 14 days, or 21 if you use the link I provide at the bottom of this post, and will give you an adequate taste of the game. After that, you must pay 5$ to activate your account, and depending on the type of way you decide to pay for the game, you will spend roughly 15-20$ per month on subscription. However, after the first few (probably 2-3 months) within the game, it is possible to pay for the game with your in-game currency through the use of an item called a PLEX which at current, costs roughly 830 million ISK today. The link below is what is called a buddy link.
https://secure.eveonline.com/trial/?invc=fdf8c6f6-65af-48c8-bd76-ef1cda352914&action=buddy As I previously stated, I am also out for my own gain, and I will not pretend that I stand to gain nothing by you using my buddy link. When you use the link, you will gain 7 more days added to your trial, and if you decide to subscribe, I will gain a PLEX. I will then sell the PLEX, and send you 90% of the total price of the PLEX at the date of sale (which right now would be roughly 750 million ISK). Therefore I make 80 million ISK as a result of you using my buddy link. As I am also a fairly new player to the game (about 5 weeks), I am hardly known within the game. But when I joined, I decided to trust someone and use their buddy link. I started with 715 million ISK and a serious leg up on the other newer players. Once you decide to subscribe with the new account you created, use one of these eligible payment methods: Credit/Debit cards, PayPal, WebMoney Transfer, paysafecard, ETC, Nexon, Ukash and iDeal
Once you've subscribed, please send an e-mail to
[email protected] and include the following: A screenshot of your (non-personal) transaction history page on eve-online website and the character name you want the ISK sent to. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive your ISK.
Regardless of whether or not you decide to use my link, I am in a new-player-friendly alliance, Sugar, which you can apply to, and we will teach you how to get on your feet within the game and teach you the basics of the game itself. Feel free to add me in-game on Blurpe ForewarnGÇÖd and shoot me any mail using the mail icon on the left side of your screen once you login. Thanks for reading, and fly safe my friends.
